Vans was founded in 1966 in California and was oriented from the start on the skateboard craze of the '60s. As a sponsor of the legendary "Zephyr skate team" around Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta are vans quickly made a name in the scene. The hi-top, now known under the name Sk8-Hi, was the first shoe which had been due to the waffle outsole designed specifically for skateboarding.
